On July 15th 2025, the sixth generic Fast4Ward® Multi Purpose Floater (MPF6) Hull built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd.(SWS), started to construct as schedule.
MPF6 adopted SBM OFFSHORE’s proprietary generic hull design. The basic solution is a FPSO with a storage capacity up to 2.3 million barrels of crude oil. The generic MPF is designed to be equipped with spread points mooring systems that can be used for the hull to meet a wide range of sea conditions from West Africa to South America.
Based on the long-term friendly cooperation and efficient communication mechanism between the two sides, SWS has successfully delivered five generic MPFs in total to SBM OFFSHORE since the first delivery in 2019. The successful steel cutting of MPF6 means SWS has gained continuous construction capacity of the generic hull, and also an indication of demand in the market for such a standardized design.
