Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering wins contract for large-scale floating crude oil production, storage and unloading facilities

- Awarded order for offshore facilities in 2 years
- Formed a consortium with Saipem, an Italian engineering company
Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) announced on the 14th that it won an FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) order from Petrobras, Brazil's largest energy company, together with Italian engineering company Saipem. The total contract size is about 2.6 trillion won, of which Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering's contract amount is about 1.948 trillion won.
The FPSO won this time can produce 180,000 barrels of crude oil and 7.2 million cubic meters of natural gas per day, and can store 2 million barrels of crude oil. Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) plans to build a hull and a part of the superstructure that can store crude oil, and plans to receive the superstructure built at Saipem and finally load it at the Okpo Shipyard.
Construction of this facility will be completed by the second half of 2024 and it is scheduled to depart for Brazil's Bujios Field, one of the world's largest deep-sea oil fields.
This year, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) won orders for a total of 27 vessels/equipment worth about US$3.72 billion, including 11 extra-large crude oil carriers, nine extra-large LPG carriers, four container ships, one LNG carrier, one WTIV, and one FPSO. About 48.3% of this year's target of $7.7 billion has been achieved.
